History of the Company
The original mill began in 1978 under the name of Corey Lumber and produced rough sawn Cedar clapboard siding. Gary Brewer, owner of Maine Cedar Specialty Products, purchased the business in 1995 and changed the business' name. Gary immediately expanded the mills manufacturing capabilities and began producing Northern White Cedar D-logs and custom Cedar specialty products, which include a wide range of siding, trim and manufacturer specified Cedar parts.
A devastating fire struck in 2003 destroying the saw and planer mills. Maine Cedar was able to quickly rebuild in a matter of months. Since then, the company's business and production capabilities have grown tremendously over the last eight years.
Unlike many log home companies, Maine Cedar has not only endured difficult economic times, but has experienced steady growth. This is due in part because Maine Cedar is a family run business. We are also flexible and able to provide quick turnaround times.
There are two questions that a customer wants to know. How long have you been in business? Will you be around in 25 years to warranty your product? Maine Cedar has a proven track record that speaks for itself.
